Get to Know the IAM Teacher

Nick Robinson

Nick is a proud New Jersey native. Growing up in the small north Jersey town of Long Valley until the spring of 1998 when he departed on a cross-country road trip for the summer and classes at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in the fall. Nick has lived and worked in many places in the United States and abroad, primarily in teaching roles but also in management and volunteer positions. In the spring of 2002 he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lock Haven in History focusing his studies on Colonial America and The Developing World. Taking leave from the shores of the Susquehanna River after graduation he moved to the beaches of NJ where he worked as a teacher, lacrosse coach, and volunteer wrestling coach. After a year back in his native state Nick left for the Cascade Mountains of Washington where he worked as a reading teacher with migrant farm children and their families. Looking to further his own education Nick moved back East to Philadelphia and taught high school History, Science, English, and GED classes while earning a Masters Degree in Alternative Education in 2006. While in Philadelphia and Italy Nick had the opportunity to design the curriculum he would be using for his practice and mold his model for the individual student. Nick enjoys his family, his friends, teaching, traveling, learning, writing, photography, and conversation. He currently lives in Leadville Colorado, the end destination for a Colorado Outward Bound program he completed in 1999 in Wilderness Mountain Leadership.
